It's been a while since I've updated here. Not really for lack of things going on, more because it's insanely hard for find a minute to do it with 4 kids, one of which is chronically ill and everything else going on in our lives.

Britta is 4 months old today!! She went to the doc this afternoon and she is 10 lbs, 10 oz! They are so pleased with her weight gain, she's come a long way from the 4lbs 14oz she was when she was really sick.

Though she continues to gain weight and is happy and "talking," she does have some new issues that have come up. For the last month or so, she has had some pretty significant wheezing and crackling in her chest. She is also retracting when she breathes, and had an elevated respiratory rate. We've taken her to the pediatrician a handful of times, the cardiologist, as well as the hospital and the consensus is they don't know why.

Her lab work shows no pneumonia or infections, her RSV test was negative (thank goodness those shots have worked!) but her chest x-ray indicates there is fluid in her lungs and thickening as well. Her breathing is so loud and crackly that when she has been in her room, Liam has actually come out of his room asking "What's that noise?!" Just your sister breathing, kid.

This could be from any number of things- damage to her lungs from not having adequate oxygenated blood go to them for the weeks before she was diagnosed with TAPVR, damage to her lungs from being on a vent for weeks, some form of asthma, the list goes on... Fortunately, the cardiologist does not believe it is tied in with her heart, so yay for that!

For now, she has added a couple of more meds to her arsenal and breathing treatments, and we will meet with a pediatric pulmonologist  to hopefully determine what the cause of the breathing issues/damage is and hopefully we can get her feeling better soon.
